MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the DeWitt Chamber of Commerce is to foster a progressive local economic climate by providing resources and education for members to increase their value to their customers, employees and community.

The DeWitt Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit corporation financed by member investments. Chamber membership is an investment in the present and future of the individual and community's welfare. Here are just some of the benefits and services we offer our members:

  • Business Referrals: The chamber receives hundreds of requests for recommendations on goods and services pertaining to DeWitt. We refer only chamber members.
  • Bizness After Hours: Popular membership get-togethers held throughout the year where members and their employees can meet, exchange business cards, and talk "shop" in a relaxed and informal setting.
  • Bulk Mailing Permit: The chamber has a bulk-mailing permit, which is available to our members for use on large mailings of 200 or more identical pieces. Using the permit can save you up to $.11 per piece on regular letter size.
  • Chamber Bucks: Thousands of dollars worth of chamber gift certificates, which can only be spent with members, are sold each year. A guide listing the members is provided to individuals purchasing DeWitt Chamber Bucks, promoting who the members are.
  • Chamber Member Publicity: All members are listed on the website's Membership Directory.  New businesses locating in DeWitt receive a First Dollar Certificate and are recognized in the monthly newsletter.
  • Crossroads Newsletter: Printed monthly, the newsletter keeps you up-to-date on chamber activities as well as chamber member news including expansions, relocations, etc., and often includes "business tips" you can use in your business.
  • Weekly Email Blast: The chamber staff sends out community events, membership recoginitions and important information every week. Members are encouraged to send their 'happenings' to the chamber to be shared with the community.  
  • Leadership Development: Has completed nine very successful classes of individuals seeking to improve their leadership skills; 90 students have graduated; each class must complete a community project, which has generated thousands of dollars in community beautifications.
  • Location Assistance: The chamber keeps an up-to-date, detailed listing of available buildings within the business community.
  • Membership Stickers: Display the chamber membership sticker proudly in your office or lobby. It is an outward, visible sign that you are supporting quality community development with a membership in the chamber.
  • New Resident and Visitor Information: Each year numerous information packets are mailed and handed out through the chamber to inquiring potential new residents, visitors and business relocations.
  • Newsletter Advertising: For a very reasonable rate, members are able to advertise in the monthly newsletter by providing flyers to be inserted. The circulation reaches over 400 individuals each month.
  • Political Representation: The chamber assists you in keeping up-to-date with governmental issues, which may directly affect your business through sponsorship of Legislative Luncheons.
  • Professional Chamber Staff: Contact JoElla O'Connell, Executive Director for all of your chamber needs. The office can also provide computer labels, as well as copy and fax machine services.
  • Publications, Brochures and Lists: Many hours of research and production go into the publishing of many lists and brochures available at the Chamber Office. Listings and brochures of chamber members are displayed daily and made available to newcomers, visitors, and potential business contacts. Also available at the chamber are listings of all DeWitt civic organizations, as well as maps, community reference guides, brochures of local attractions and more.
  • Retail Promotions and Community Events: The chamber coordinates several promotions and exciting events for their members each year, which attracts people to DeWitt and promotes local shopping.
  • Telephone Tree: The telephone-calling tree alerts businesses of scams such as shoplifting, bad checks, deceptive advertising, etc. taking place in the community.
  • Voice For Business: Uniting over 200 businesses and individuals, creating a central organization, the chamber works to improve business and build a better community.
